Style X Adds Speakers to the event at SXSW on March 16th and 17th

Fresh off announcing the inclusion of notable bloggers like The Man Repeller, Grungy Gentleman and Marcus Troy to its panel roster, Style X (pronounced “Style By”) announced additional media and thought leaders to speak at the event including editors from GQ, Elle, NYLON, Huffington Post and Refinery29. Also, emerging women’s wear designer Sarah Nami Ahn, whose NAMI collection received praise at New York and L.A. Fashion Week events, and fashion PR maven and PR Couture founder Crosby Noricks are standout panel additions.

"As an emerging designer, I am really excited to be given the chance to discuss issues that designers in this field face today," said Nami Ahn, who earned a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in neurosciences from UCLA before deciding to pursue fashion.

Style X, the official fashion showcase of SXSW, will be held on Friday & Saturday, March 16 & 17, in the Austin Convention Center. The event is free and open to the public from noon to 8 p.m. each day and features dozens of pop-up shops showcasing emerging clothing and accessories brands, panel discussions and runway shows.

“These panel additions further validate style’s rightful seat alongside music, film and technology at SXSW. As only a second year event, it’s a great privilege to have people that are extremely innovative and full of insight,” said Joah Spearman, co-founder and executive producer of Style X.

Also amongst the new additions are StyleCaster Founder and CEO Ari Goldberg and Elle.com Editorial Director Keith Pollock, a regular on Sundance Channel’s All On the Line program. Huffington Post Style and Stylelist editor-in-chief Anya Strzemien and Ellen Carpenter, deputy editor of NYLON and NYLON Guys, will also speak at Style X.

“Style X panels will feature true leaders in the fashion media world. Ari, along with his brother David, have made StyleCaster a force to reckon with. Keith Pollock’s credentials date back even further than his time at Elle to his time at men.Style.com as their senior fashion editor and launching Interview magazine’s site,” said Spearman. “Anya launched style for HuffPost, which is obviously a major feat, and Ellen has been at the forefront of covering the intersection of fashion and music for Rolling Stone, Spin and, now, NYLON.”

Sean Hotchkiss, GQ style contributor and The GQ Eye editor, UK style blogger Michelle Sadlier, The Selected Few creative director Kendrick Jackson, and international stylist Nicole R. Janowicz, who has worked with everyone from Slash of Guns N’ Roses to R&B singer Keyshia Cole, will also serve as guest panelists.

Balancing out much of the L.A. and New York panel contributors will be Refinery29 Chicago editor Shani Silver, along with Michael Maher, the creative force behind men’s outfitter Taylor & Stitch and San Francisco shop The Common, and Austin-based Nice Kicks chief Matt Halfhill, who founded the influential and highly-visited sneaker site within the Complex Media Network.

“Adding industry leaders from around the country like Crosby Noricks and Matt Halfill to a panel roster that already includes The Man Repeller, Marcus Troy and Grungy Gentleman is amazing,” added Spearman. “For this type of event to be open and free to the public is so incredibly exciting for SXSW. It’s a tremendous opportunity for anyone interested in getting an inside viewpoint on the fashion industry.”

Also, in keeping with its focus on emerging talent in the fashion industry, Style X announced style photographer and frequent Grungy Gentleman contributor Justin Bridges of Tucked Style as its official Street Style Photographer. Tech startup Thre.ad has joined Style X as the Official Street Style App. SXSW attendees and fans from around the world will be able to upload photos to Thre.ad throughout SXSW to share their personal style within the online community.

Thre.ad’s Founder and CEO Mimi Nguyen will join the Style X panel roster along with fashion stylist and creative consultant Jennifer Margolin and Macala Wright, founder of FashionablyMarketing.Me.

Lyst, which last year served as a Style X technology partner, returns as the Official Social Shopping Partner. The company connects budding fans to fashion designers and inspiration behind such heavyweights as Tory Burch, Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren. Lyst VP of Business Development Hilary Peterson will join a panel discussion about the ways technology and online commerce continue to drive innovation in the fashion industry.

Also returning as a technology partner is Go Try It On, the fashion tech startup led by Marissa Evans. Last year, Go Try It On ran a Twitter hashtag contest for Style X’s participating brands. Atlanta streetwear brand We Are the Process bested all competition with nearly 1,000 dedicated tweets, many with the hashtag #growthebrand, during the leadup to Style X’s debut showcase.

Further details on the panel topics and times will be announced in the coming weeks.

Charming Charlie is the Official Fashion Accessories Partner of Style X and Tortoise & Blonde returns as the Official Eyeglasses Partner of Style X.
